Tussaud - Birt artist sculptor.
The artist Tussaud-Birt statue of Robin Hood used to stand on the forecourt in front of Thoresby Hall. Nowadays it stands 200 yards away in the enclosure before Thoresby Gallery. The move was probably made necessary due to the increased security this enclosure provided in the days before the conversion of the Hall to a successful hotel was completed. On more than one occasion great outcry was caused in the nearby village of Perlethorpe because the bow had been stolen either as a souvenir or for scrap metal. The Tussaud-Birt statue of Robin hood, 1948, captures a more slender outlaw than the rather warrior like appearance of the statue outside Nottingham castle.
